Russell Hinds - our illustrious and industrious
leader. Well - Senior Pastor actually and he's seemingly tireless in his
work. But behind every great man there is a great woman, as Russell knows,
which is why he married Kaye! She is his right hand, and he'd be lost
without her. Apart from keeping the home running - and the freezer stocked
with ice-cream to appease our pastor's penchant for the stuff, she is
heavily involved in so many ministries no one doubts that this truly is
a team effort! Russell and Kaye have three sons Clayton, Joshua and Tristan
who are all active participants in the life of the church.
For years Russell has successfully mixed Pastoral work and sport - one
of his favourite leisure time activities. Okay - I'm sorry - sports watching!
I'm told there's a difference. Actually he loves watching his boys play
footy most of all. Just don't show your true colours come State of Origin
time - unless you come from the right side of the border!
He does get some activity into his week, however. Sundays see Russell
preaching - not from behind the pulpit, but from beside the pulpit, in
front of the pulpit, even halfway down the centre aisle. He says he likes
to get among the people … and let's face it - the people like it.
So what's Russell's dream for the future? An alive, dynamic, vibrant church
that can't help but multiply. He's the first to admit it's hard work,
but through the work of God's Holy Spirit all things are possible. Seeing
churches fulfill their mission and multiply is his passion, and seeing
these things come to fruition helps keep him happy. Of course, a good
mate with a fishing boat, and Qld winning the footy puts a smile on his
face as well … |
